UNBURIER – AS TIME AWAITS
(SELF-RELEASED]
Unburier‘s latest EP, As Time Awaits, delivers uncompromisingly vicious old-school UK death metal, expanding their sonic scope while sharpening intensity, hooks, and songwriting. Opening with ‘Continuum’, the EP blends groovy rhythms, melodic leads, fretless bass, and progressive drumming (featuring the brand new addition of Kim Hughes), setting a dark, reflective tone. ‘Abyssal Uncertainty’ erupts with dissonant brutality, rapid riffing, and the standout solo, pairing technical chaos with ambitious, existential lyricism. Closer ‘Survive The Vermin’ fuses ferocity and spellbinding technicality, driven by emotive vocals, punchy rhythms, and relentless leads. [8]

CARPENTER BRUT – LEATHER TEMPLE
(NO QUARTER PROD]
Carpenter Brut closes his dystopian trilogy with Leather Temple, following Leather Teeth (2018) and Leather Terror (2022). Set in 2077, the concept album follows a Rebellion led by Lita Connor, who resurrects cyborg Bret Halford to overthrow tyrant Iron Tusk. Blending electronic music, metal, and ’80s pop culture influences—from John Carpenter and Dario Argento to Slayer and Justice—Leather Temple delivers abrasive beats, dark textures, and relentless tension across ten tracks. More direct and aggressive, it fuses distorted electronics, industrial fever, and ’90s synthetic pulse with cinematic, orchestral scope, exploring transhumanism, tyranny, vengeance, and post-apocalyptic revolt. [8.5]

INTERNAL DECAY – FIRES OF THE FORGOTTEN (HAMMERHEART)
Formed in 1991 in Stockholm after earlier thrash incarnations, internal Decay quickly stirred the tape-trading underground with their raw demo. Relentless rehearsals and gigs shaped the eerie, otherworldly melodic death metal realized on A Forgotten Dream (recorded at Sunlight Studios in 1992–1993 with Thomas Skogsberg and Lars Lindén). Rejecting the typical buzzsaw sound, the album favors atmosphere and dark melody, earning strong scene acclaim and bigger shows. After recording ‘Et Cetera Ad Inifitum’ in 1994, the band went inactive. Now, with a 2025 reissue and Fires Of The Forgotten, the revived lineup reasserts its distinctive, darkly melodic identity. LOCUS NOIR – SHADOW SUN (LISTENABLE RECORDS)
Locus Noir, the latest project from Ben DMN (frontman of Sybreed), returns to the music that shaped his formative years, born from late-night introspection and creative renewal. Evolving from a solo endeavor into a full band, their debut album Shadow Sun delivers a modern yet timeless take on Gothic Metal, fusing Type O Negative gloom, The Fields Of The Nephilim mysticism, and Paradise Lost melancholy with a post-punk edge. Ben’s melodic, haunting vocals evoke theatrical depth while lyrics explore love and death, desire and decay, and the nocturnal excess lingering long after dawn. A striking and crepuscular debut statement indeed. [7]

THREAT SIGNAL – REVELATIONS (AGONIA RECORDS)
Threat Signal returns after nine years with Revelations, a 10-track fifth album. Following Disconnect (2017), the Canadian outfit channels personal struggle into a fusion of technical thrash, melodic death, groove metal, and metalcore, driven by tight instrumentation, ornate guitars, dynamic vocals, and emotionally charged, reflective lyrics. The record reunites drummer Joey Muha alongside Jon Howard, Pat Kavanagh, Travis Montgomery, and new guitarist Oswin Wong. Mixed, produced, and engineered by Howard, mastered by Tod Jensen, and featuring artwork by Travis Smith, Revelations showcases resilience, intensity, and melodic hooks that define the band’s evolving sound throughout. [7.5]

BLACKWATER DROWNING – OBSCURE SORROWS (BLEED ART COLLECTIVE)
Blackwater Drowning return with Obscure Sorrows, a bold step forward for the North Carolina melodic death metal/metalcore five-piece. Founded by Morgan Riley and Jeremy Bennett, the band shifts its songwriting approach, crafting songs collaboratively in real time and self-producing much of the record at their home studio. The result expands their signature guitar harmonies with fresh rhythms, progressions, and newly added orchestration. Mixed and mastered by Christian Donaldson (Cryptopsy), the album features guest solos from Greg Burgess (Allegaeon) and Yo Onityan, with artwork by Giannis Nakos. Obscure Sorrows showcases a band refining its identity without abandoning its roots. [7]
