2025 IN REVIEW
The Great Hall is loud, the mead is flowing, and the year 2025 lies vanquished behind us—a battlefield strewn with the glory of heavy metal. But even the Allfather needs his mighty warriors to separate the worthy from the unworthy. As we count down the final days of the year, the talented and hard-working contributors here at Allfather-Metal have taken the king of Asgard’s throne one by one to present their personal trophies of war. Raise your horns to celebrate the best of 2025 with us!
MILES GEORGE
2025 will remain a year filled with music for me; with just over 100 different albums listened to over the year across all genres, there was no shortage of music that was absolutely flowing into my ears every single day, all year round. Some albums left me speechless, and some albums left me with more questions than answers. The Halo Effect was the clear winner for the year, releasing not only their sophomore album right at the start of the year that absolutely cemented the supergroup as leading the charge for modern Swedish melodic death metal, showing the world how it’s done, but we also got a covers EP from the band as well. This is my top 15 for the year, an absolutely eclectic offering of heavy metal across various sub-genres, with something for everyone!
